“Everyone is once again invited to be a part of DEL Run 3. This will be a big help in the upkeep of the newly planted trees on the Marikina Watershed. It serves as the lowland community’s first line of defense against the raging (rain)waters coming from the mountain ranges,” said the Good Mayor.

At present, trees are continuously being planted on the 20 hectare Marikina Watershed located in Sitio Kayrupa, Bgy. San Rafael, Rodriguez, Rizal, and to date, over 7000 tree varieties has been planted including Dao, Narra and Molave. Another 200 hectares, which has been designated by the DENR, were already planted with more than 7000 Robusta Coffee saplings and 950 other tree varieties, while 10,000 more saplings of Robusta Coffee are yet to be planted.

Mayor Del is also calling all residents of neighboring towns and municipalities to please refrain from throwing garbage in rivers and waterways to prevent flooding.

According to Mayor Del De Guzman, “We have been taking steps, to not only preserve the environment, but to also help save lives and properties from flood damage, brought about by the overflowing of the Marikina River in times of calamity. This is not only the government’s responsibility, but everyone else’s…”
