The SALOMON XTrail Pilipinas 2012: Endurance comes in Two Forms…

Last Saturday, March 17, 2012, I, together with other runners/bloggers were privileged to have been invited to check out and recon a section of the Salomon XTrail Pilipinas race route. The event, which will be happening on the 31st at  Tagaytay Highlands will be a tough test for runners who are in for a trail/mountain experience. The route will have a ratio for road to trail of 40%:60% for the 6k which is perfect for beginners, 30%:70% for the 12k which caters to intermediate runners, and 20%:80% for the 24k which is basically a mountain run that will surely challenge even the hardcore runners. It is also touted as the toughest trail route/race to date ever to be done in Tagaytay Highlands.

We were fortunate enough to take a look/feel of the 6k route, here’s a peek of what to expect:

The downhill START.

at the foot of the trails...

start of the uphill climb...

let's climb some more...

after dealing with the uphills, it's now time to go down...

"are we there yet?" 😉

@around km5, a respite from the hills...

just be sure to wear long compression socks/sleeves, you wouldn't want these clinging to your bare skin. 😉
