Vaseline Men XTerra Pang Rave Run: A Trail Run to Rave About

The Vaseline Men XTerra Pang Rave Run was held last February 26 at the Timberland Heights in San Mateo Rizal.

Pang Rave Run was my very first official trail run, it was something new to me so I really don’t know what to expect. After coming from a long hiatus because of injury, I’m really a bit hesitant to do it. I was contemplating on doing the 5k, but after my friends gave me the assurance that we’ll be running together, I gave in.

Race day. Went to the venue together with friends, rode with Gigi, Jaimie, Wilbert and Dennis. Vima and Art will just meet us at the venue since they’ll be hitching a ride with a friend who works at Timberland Heights.

We arrived a good hour before the gunstart, still had enough time to claim our race kits and a quick trip to the portalets. Equipped with our hydration kits and trail shoes, we went to the starting corral ready for battle. 22k runners were sent off first and after 30 minutes, it’s our time to explore and trek the hills of San Mateo.

Serene living... πŸ˜‰

Nature's beauty... πŸ˜‰

The plan was to just enjoy the race…well, it was more of a walk-run. Taking picture breaks every once in a while, capturing the beauty and serenity of nature. Trying to document our short but tough journey through the trails of Timberland Heights.

at the early stage of the run...errr...walk.

Negotiating the steep downhill...

less than 2 kilometers before the finish... "lawit dila" na hahaha...

Nothing beats catching the sun rising behind the mountain ranges and experiencing the cool and crisp air that greets you while traversing deep into the woods. The route was fun. Full of steep ascents and descents that made us wary of our footing. I wonder what could’ve happened if it rained the night before… πŸ˜‰

"Halik sa Lupa" πŸ˜‰

As if the difficulty of negotiating the tough terrain and crossing streams weren’t enough, the race director even made us crawl a good 10 meters…just making sure everyone gets to “kiss and hug” the ground I guess hehehe…

Strong finish? NOT! πŸ˜‰

A bunch of happy people...Group pic at the Finish.

And after less than2 hours of seemingly endless hike, we were able to cross the finishline in one piece. Friends greeted us at the finish as though we haven’t seen each other in weeks, everyone so happy to have experienced a trail run every participant will surely rave about.

The view of the Metro from the top! 😦

It’s just sad that after experiencing the beauty of mother nature, you get to see this. 😦

Post race breakfast at the Timberland Heights Clubhouse.

The usual "class picture" after the event with Ms. Princess Galura and the Timberland Heights peeps. Thanks a bunch guys. πŸ˜‰

Special thanks to Ms. Princess Galura of Events King/Sunrise Events for always graciously having us and for putting up great races. To the warm people of Timberland Heights for the post race treat, we highly appreciate the hospitality.

Goodbye Timberland Heights...'til we meet again. πŸ˜‰
